As the first microgrid electrical utility in the United States, this initiative is backed by Cuyahoga Green Energy, a $300,000 investment supported by a $1.8 million US Department of Energy grant, and a 10-year partnership with Compass Energy Platform.

Inspired by The Ray, a Georgia-based model for net-zero infrastructure, the Aerozone is evaluating:
- Pavement Recycling & Circular Economy Solutions: Utilizing recycled plastics, repurposed materials, and waste-derived concrete to reduce landfill waste.
- Solar-Powered Roads & EV Charging: Piloting highway solar installations and wireless EV charging to support the shift toward electric mobility.
- Biodiversity-Friendly Roadways: Integrating native plant species along highway corridors to combat soil erosion and promote pollinator-friendly ecosystems.
