The March 11 Aerozone Job Fair at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport was a resounding success, attracting a record number of job seekers eager to explore opportunities in manufacturing, aviation, hospitality, and logistics. Students from Polaris Career Center, Lorain County JVS, and Davis Aerospace and Maritime High School were among the attendees, showing a growing interest in careers tied to the airport.
The event highlighted the demand for Airframe and Powerplant (AMP)-certified mechanics, a rewarding career with strong earning potential. FEAM Aero currently employs 17 mechanics but ideally needs 22, offering starting wages of $28 per hour with advancement opportunities. Establishing an AMP school near CLE could help meet this need while creating career pathways for local talent.
Opportunities extend beyond the airport as well. Alloy Engineering, Ohio’s oldest ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, offers employees ownership interest. CAM Aerospace provides upward mobility and on-the-job training. OMEC Smart Card operates a state-of-the-art facility producing advanced smart cards. Mazzella, a Cleveland-based company, manufactures cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices.
